Paul Emmons

Level 3 CrossFit Trainer / Co-Owner / Nutrition Coach

Paul is one of the few Certified CrossFit Level 3 Trainers (CF-L3) in the United Kingdom. To become a Level 3 trainer you must have completed the requirements of the Level 1 and Level 2 Certificate courses, demonstrate at least 750 hours of CrossFit coaching, (Paul has over 4000 hours and counting) and then pass the Certified CrossFit Trainer examination. This is a 4 hour exam with 160 questions. The last 10 years have seen Paul go from fitness instructor in a large gym, to personal trainer and gym manager, to gym owner.

Outside of the gym Paul spends most of my time learning new techniques, and programming clients/members. His favorite part of the job is taking somebody with no fitness background, or little self-confidence, and giving them the tools they need to discover their capabilities.

In addition to co-owning CrossFit Norwich, Paul is employed by Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service as their Physical Training Adviser. He is responsible for keeping your counties finest Fire Fighters in peak physical fitness.

Donna Owen

CrossFit Kids Coach / Co-Owner

Donna was first introduced to CrossFit in 2011, naively agreeing to make up a team of 3 males and 1 female at one of the country’s most popular CrossFit competitions, ‘Divided we Fall’ in Swansea. Whilst this was a baptism of fire for her, Donna was in awe of the athletes she witnessed that weekend, and vowed to get stronger, and to master the technical elements of CrossFit. Six years later, she’s still trying! But with several major competitions and one victory under her belt, she’s a lot closer.

Her real passion is for the physical education of children, and Donna launched CrossFit Norwich Kids in the summer of 2014, with three main objectives. To get kids moving, for them to be aware of how their bodies work, and to build a balanced understanding of nutrition.

Sam Hodgson

Physiotherapist / Movement Coach

Sam discovered CrossFit in 2013 after participating and competing in a variety of different sports at various levels from a young age and sustaining a number of different injuries. He found the principles of CrossFit linked closely to his core values of physiotherapy in promoting normal movement.

Sam programmes the movement mastery classes as well as orchestrating various workshops. Sam also runs clinics from the gym to help manage and treat injuries, which is a small part of the service he is trying to create which emphasizes injury prevention and movement performance as core principles.

Sam is always keen for discussions and questions on anything movement related, so please don’t hesitate to ask.

Adam Russett

CrossFit Coach

A serving member of the British Army (Lance Corporal, 24 Commando Engineer Regiment), Adam has used CrossFit methodologies to prepare candidates for commando training.

Adam completed his CrossFit Level 1 qualification in October 2012, and has since gone on to achieve a whole host of other accolades. The first coach to join us following our launch, Adam coaches at CrossFit Norwich whenever he is on leave from the Army, and his background is very apparent in his coaching style! That said, he is very approachable, and his classes are always a hit with our members. Adam has played football, rugby and water polo for his regiment, and is a keen indoor rower.
